The Traditional Prepation of Absinthe

This video demonstrates the traditional method of preparing Absinthe. 1.2 ounces of Absinthe to 3 to 5 parts ice water depending on one's taste and/or container size. Sugar is optional. A sugar holder (Absinthe Spoon) is use to hold the sugar while it dissolves under a slow drip of ice water. Water then drips on the sugar which drips into the Absinthe below. The traditional method takes about 1.5 minutes to complete. This video has been edited for time. A word on "flaming": Lighting Absinthe on fire is dangerous and should never be done. Furthermore, it destroys the essential oils that give Absinthe's unique timeless taste. Please enjoy responsibly! This Absinthe Fountain and Set: The set you see in the video can be purchased at www.lamaisondabsinthe.com or in the store La Maison d'Absinthe - New Orleans, La in the French Quarter, 823 Royal St. 70116 The Green Fairy was here...
