I remember this night very well. We showed up and discovered that there was some type of miscommunication as to who was booked that night. Luckily, the good folks at the Cimarron in Menasha, Wi., support original live music over DJ's and Karaoke. However, we had our work cut out for us as it's tough to create an audience for yourself when you don't have help from your fans that show up regularly. Over the years, I have really come to appreciate slow/dead nights. It's like a light day at work and the benefits for me in those situations are great. I get to play songs that I typically wouldn't do and in the case of this song: just launch on a Psychedelic tangent. Some of you may think it's easy to create "noise" such as this but I assure you that it is not. Everything about the music environment is on terms to which you need to be on your toes. There is necessity to comprehend your pedals and work within the context of their flaws and abilities. Nothing in this environment is controlled. You have to pay attention to everything going on as it is always changing and is never the same from the last time you performed it. I adore it when it happens and feel blessed beyond measure when I am fortunate to have the moment captured. It's rare that someone is there to film/record it but I am grateful that my good friends Bruce and Mary Ann Rose showed up with their camera.
