Easy to Grow Roses

There are many different types of roses. If you are new to rose gardening, then it is wise to choose varieties of easy to grow roses to begin your rose garden. Some roses require constant attention and caring for while others require none. Roses come in varieties of high maintenance to no maintenance. Most roses, though, do require a certain amount of time to get started and to care for adequately. Minimal care roses that produce maximum results are ideal for beginners or those still somewhat new to rose gardening. Not only will it teach you the basics without working you to death, it will also encourage your gardening experience, perhaps leading you to take on other rose types that are a little more challenging to care for.

Easy to grow roses need some care as well.

Some roses will exist solely based on their will to survive. There are many types of easy to grow roses that do not require watering or fertilizing but rather suffer nature independently and flourish. However, this type of treatment is not ideal for any type of rose and I do not recommend that you treat your roses in this manner no matter how much they seem to prevail. Instead, a good balance of watering and feeding is ideal because it provides the essential nutrients and elements that your plant needs without putting it under strain to get them for itself.

Belinda's dream is a good easy to grow rose.

Belinda's Dream is one of these very easy to grow roses. Belinda's Dream grows approximately six feet high. Blooms are a beautiful, soft pink and they continue to bloom through the whole year. This rose is naturally disease and pest resistant and will absolutely flourish on it's own with little care.

You can also consider "Knockouts" for your rose garden.

Knockouts are another one of these simple and easy to grow roses. Knockouts are very well liked and appreciated because of their ability to constantly bloom. Knockouts are also extremely hardy and resistant to disease and pests. They are adored by warm and humid climates such as the southeast because they are quite resistant to black spot, which is a disease that is dreaded by rose gardeners of any warm and humid atmosphere. The Knockout produces vivid red colored blooms and it creeps out and covers a wide area. Of all of the easy to grow roses, Knockouts offer you a wonderful turnout that is a winner for sure.

Fairy Rose is also on of these easy to grow roses.

Fairy Rose is also on of these easy to grow roses. It is what rose gardeners refer to as a dwarf rose which only grows to lengths of two to three feet. Do not let this name fool you, the Fairy Rose grows closely to the ground and blankets quite a bit of area. It also blooms magnificently throughout the year even through the harsh months of July and August. Beware of the monstrous thorns on this one. This is the one, and only deterrent I can think of to growing this one. The thorns make this plant a little more of a challenge to prune and care for but if you are willing to take it on, it can offer some eye-popping results during bloom. Overall, the Fairy Rose still has my thumbs up because of the over the top bloom power that it has.

The butterfly rose is also a great pick.

Mutablis (otherwise known as the butterfly rose) is my last pick of these easy to grow roses. It, like some of the others, blooms constantly throughout the year. The flowers change colors as they develop and this is a unique property that I have only observed in one other rose. The petals begin as a delicate yellow, turn to an orange color, then change to pink, and finally wind up a deep and vibrant red color. This rose is also resistant to disease and is definitely a very hardy grower.

These are just a few of the roses that are easy to bloom and are therefore great starter roses for any rose garden. You offer yourself the opportunity to become familiar with roses and general terms and aspects of rose gardening without becoming heavily involved by choosing a rose that is simple and easy to grow to begin your garden with. As your skill and understanding of roses develops, you can then move onto bigger challenges by planting some of the more difficult to grow roses in your garden.

Is Reading Fairy Tales And Scary Stories Harmful To Children?

Yesterday's fairy tales and today's scary books are filled with conflicting vivid imagery of both good and evil. It is no wonder that many parents pause when the wolf is seconds away from making a meal of Little Red Riding Hood or The Magic Treehouse's Jack and Annie are surrounded by circling sharks. Parents can't help but wonder if the scary content is harmful or if children are perceptive enough to internalize any dark meanings. Experts say the answer is no. Children take the stories at face value and nothing more. Well chosen fairy tales can even be learning tools if presented in the right way at the right time. Here is the nutshell version of rules to remember when reading fairy tales to children:

1. Use fairy tales to elicit discussions: Fairy tales often conveniently explore common issues children face as they come of age like the fear of abandonment, vanity, greed, envy and sibling rivalry, leaving those issues wide open for parent discussion.

2. Make sure the fairy tales you are reading aren't encouraging negative stereotypes: Watch for books that imply it pays to be physically pretty. This message can contribute to young women feeling they are inferior if they don't meet unrealistic standards of beauty. Counter any negative stereotypes by initiating frank discussions about any stereotypes a book contains.

3. Chose books which allow your child to witness victory: Pick books in which the main character transcends the events that challenge him to become a stronger person in the end.

4. Never force a book on an apprehensive child: Read any questionable books alone first. If there is any doubt whether the child is ready, wait. Consider forgoing movie versions for the corresponding book. Many book editors will greatly water down or even omit scary parts in collections for younger children.

5. Know that most kids know the difference between fantasy and reality: If your preschooler wants to hear Sleeping Beauty for the one hundredth time, be glad she wants to read. Children know the difference between reality and fantasy and can easily digest the enormity of a character's problem if it is presented in a fantasy-like fashion.

Most adults who read fairy tales and scary stories as children grew up with the full realization that mirrors don't engage in conversation and magic beans don't literally exist, but it can still fun to read about them. Isn't part of the enchantment of childhood believing in a little magic?

Fairy Lights and Bells Christmas Umbrella

Are you an extravert? Is your Auntie bonkers? Is your Granny Christmas mad? We have the perfect Christmas gift idea, which will definitely get them noticed.

Presenting The Fairy Lights and Bells Umbrella so named because it is an umbrella with some unusual Santa's grotto features. Fairy lights, Christmas baubles and some tinkling bells to ensure the user of the brolly jingles all the way.

To make this Christmas brolly you will need...
An umbrella, felt fabric, Christmas baubles, small cable ties, some bells (the larger the bell the more 'Sleigh bell' they sound, whilst tiny bells sound like fairies and pixie dust). You will also need a packet of battery operated multi-colour lights.

Open the umbrella and sit it upside down on the table. You will notice that along each spoke of the metal part of the brolly, the umbrella fabric is stitched to the frame. At this point sew a couple of stitches on top of one another to finish off.

In a similar way, sew a Christmas bauble to the end of each spoke where the umbrella fabric is sewn to the tip of the spoke.

To attach the lights to the umbrella frame, you need to make a little 'pocket' to hold the light's battery compartment.

Cut out a piece of felt that is half a centimetre bigger than the battery compartment all the way around. Cut out a second piece, but this time as well as the half a centimetre all around, also make an increase in the length of the rectangle by 3cm, this will give the pocket a 'tab' at the top.

Put the two pieces of felt together as sewn along the two side edges and the bottom. You will be left with a pocket with a tab.

Fold the tab over one of the spokes of the open umbrella, be careful to avoid any joints because this will prevent you from closing the brolly later.

Sew the tab to the back of the pocket to hold the pocket in position. Do not sew the pocket closed. Insert the battery compartment into the pocket.

Use the cable ties to attach the fairy lights to the other spokes of the umbrella in a circular fashion, again avoiding any joints in the umbrella's framework. Pull the cable ties firmly and trim off any surplus.

Now switch on the lights. As an optional extra plastic mistletoe can be hung from the spokes at the centre part of the umbrella. Bonkers Christmas brolly or what?

Fairy Tale Castle Bedrooms For Your Knight Or Princess

Tales of adventure and romance, danger and reward, enchanted forests and royal kingdoms delight every child, boys and girls alike. It's no wonder, then, that so many children delight in custom theme bedrooms that conjure dreams of daring young princes and valiant knights slaying vicious dragons and rescuing beautiful princesses.

At the heart of any fairy tale bedroom is a custom castle bed. Many a storybook fantasy can come to life in a bedroom that has a custom castle bed as its centerpiece. And thanks to creative carpenters and interior designers, it's not difficult or expensive to make that fantasy a reality.

By having your child's fantasy bed custom built, you can include many enchanting features that complete the picture, not least of which is making the custom castle bed a loft bed and a canopy bed too. You can also build in all sorts of playful elements like slides, climbing walls, multiple levels, moving drawbridges, and turrets that your little knight or princess can crawl around in and through. The more elements you add to your child's custom castle bed, the more settings your child will have to invent fairy tale scenes that let her imagination soar.

What's more, a custom castle bed can fill many roles in your child's storybook fantasy by having it designed as a multi-purpose furniture piece that performs as a play space and storage space as well as a place for your weary young knights and princesses to rest their precious heads at night.

Make sure to include custom drapery, bedding, throw pillows and other accessories that further heighten the fantasy. The designs you conjure up can be anything from familiar fairy tale characters he or she loves to fabulous landscapes to colorful splashes of detail that flesh out the magical realm your child will inhabit.

Bright colors painted on the walls - be they murals of sweeping vistas or majestic solid swaths of color - help animate the room and make the fairy tale theme more vivid. Borders and moldings are two ways to affordably add a bit of extra flair to the design. And don't forget lots of light and free air flow, as all enchanted kingdoms exist in an eternal clear, bright, sunny day.

There's simply no end to the adventures a child can have in a custom fantasy fairy tale bedroom with a custom castle bed as its centerpiece. In such a space, young knights, princes, and princesses can be carried away into other worlds without ever leaving the security of home.

Glass Fairy Lamps

One of the most sought after collectibles in both new and vintage lighting are glass fairy lamps. This type of light was invented by Samuel Clarke in the late 1800's and generally used as a night light. Usually lit by a candle in floating water, it originally had a paper shade. This lamp caught on quickly and became quite popular. It was produced by many companies and many versions of the little lamp were manufactured. The paper shade was soon replaced with glass and some became very elegant.

Companies like Mosser, Indiana Glass, LE Smith, Viking, Westmoreland and Fenton began manufacturing these lamps. Many of the patterns and glass types in early production were crafted from a practical standpoint and they weren't all that pretty. Later, as they became wildly popular, they were made by art glass companies in many beautiful designs and glass types.

The Fenton Art Glass company really came back strong with Fairy lamps in the 50's and some of them are absolutely beautiful! These lamps are still manufactured by Fenton, Mosser and other companies today. They are still very collectible and many people anticipate and purchase the new designs year after year for their displays.

Finding vintage fairy lamps is a hobby for many art glass enthusiasts. Local antique shops are a good source but you will pay a lot. Attending estate sales and auctions is another good source and you can usually find some great lamps at great prices. The downside is the time it takes to find and travel to these sales. It's also seasonal, winter is not a good time for estate sales.

One of the best places for purchasing these fairy lights is online auctions like eBay. The selection is very good as well as the prices. There are hundreds of these collectibles available, mostly vintage, and even some rare Viking, S Clarke, Westmoreland and Mosser can still be found for your collection. The vintage Fenton Glass fairy lamps are in great abundance and many in excellent condition. Whether you are a hardcore collector, a glass enthusiast or just starting out, the online auction is a worthwhile place for checking out glass fairy lamps.

Fairy Tale Adventure Travel to Neuschwanstein Castle

No visit to the Bavarian region of Germany is complete without spending time at the famous Neuschwanstein castle, which is said to be the inspiration for Walt Disney's Cinderella's Castle.

Sitting high above the Alpsee Lake, surrounded by the towering Alps, the Neuschwanstein castle looks like a vision out of a fairy tale. It is said to be the most photographed building in the world and is characterized by its rising spires and towers and sits atop the Pöllat River gorge.

Construction began in 1869, under the orders of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, it was never fully completed by the time of his death in 1886.

For a castle, it was equipped with some very surprisingly "modern" conveniences. Each floor has running water courtesy of a mountain spring that is 200 meters higher than the castle. Additionally the castle has flushing toilets, which were extremely modern for the time.

Ludwig was a patron of the German composer, Richard Wagner, and many of the rooms are decorated with depictions of the Germanic legends he immortalized in his operas. Particularly, the Singers Hall, which occupies the entire fourth floor of the castle, is dedicated to the life of Parsifal, hero of one of Wagner's most famous opera.

The castle rises some 300 feet above the village of Fussen, which is itself the highest town in Bavaria. To get to the castle, one must take a narrow switchback road up to the castle gate. Some 1.3 million people make this trip each year, making the Neuschwanstein castle the most popular tourist destination in Germany.

Cute Fairy Tattoos - How Cute Fairies Are Taking the Tattoo World by Storm

Cute Fairy tattoos are far more common on women than men, for obvious reasons, and because of their generally small size, they are normally located on the shoulder, back, ankle, or calf of the women that sport them. Fairies are colorful and whimsical creatures with an infinite amount of design variations, making them easily customizable for different personalities. Fairy tattoos are very versatile images therefore. They appeal to a wide variety of people and they can represent a variety of lifestyles. Fairy tattoos are often sported by women that consider themselves to be innocent and young at heart. For many people, fairies represent the magical and wondrous properties of the natural world personified into a small, beautiful creature.

Cute Fairy tattoos are often used to represent attributes of the wearer like a genial nature, high spirits or of a mischievous attitude toward life. Fairy tattoos are extremely versatile and can be adapted to fit just about any place on the body. Most frequently they are done on areas such as the foot, lower back, hips, stomach, or ankle but they can really be done anywhere. Fairy tattoos are fairly common in females as fairies are associated with the fair sex.

Fairy tattoos are very versatile therefore. They appeal to a wide variety of people and they can represent a variety of lifestyles. Fairy tattoos are often associated with love, hope or peace. Some men have a small tattoo design, consider getting a tattoo the best results when you are on the skin of the most popular kinds of tattoos are very popular among the most requested, and is endangered in North America. Fairy tattoos are usually applied to the lower back, shoulder area or in cases of daring, the upper thighs. Most of the time, women request smaller fairy tattoos, preferring the cuteness of a smaller tattoo over a much larger piece of body art.

Fairy tattoos are most common for women and refer to a certain youth or innocence. When most think of the tooth fairy, for instance, they are reminded of an innocence when they believed in the magic that anything is possible and even that which is unthinkable can happen. Cute Fairy tattoos are fun, colorful and one of the most sensual designs available, and as such are an extremely popular choice for women. Fairy tattoos are relatively new design idea and they represent a range of interest. Fairy tattoos are also quite popular among women as they are mesmerized by the beauty of these tattoos.

Women who get cute fairy tattoos might have them done as armbands or on their ankles. The lower back, hip, and beneath the navel are also very erotic places to put fairy tattoos. Women are really popular on the quote "Beauty is a never ending battle" and I completely agree to that. This coming Halloween party is a good opportunity of being with your crush or inviting your special someone for a date.

Tattoos are a form of self-expression, and in a country to tight with quarrels on fashion, it is incredibly refreshing to see an original new style to come in. Tattoos can be irritating, however, but they are there for a reason, and they express some emotion. Tattoos are a great thing because it's a really good way for a person to express their personality and things that they are into. A Tattoo can be made from any sort of design, it can be a solid block tribal design to full color picture portraits. Tattoos are a personal thing. Mine are where if I want you to see them, I'll show you (leg and arm) but a lot of people I work with have no idea I'm inked.

Tattoos are personal affirmations of valid alternatives to the status quo. Tattoos are quite popular among many different age groups. Popular tattoos include names or faces of loved ones, or perhaps things denoting favorite hobbies. Tattoos are still kind of trendy, but like anything else that becomes trendy it can not be written off as a passing fancy because of the vogue-ness of it now. Not everyone might be as desperate as you are to run out and cash in on the latest hit look.

TATTOOS are everywhere-or so it seems. Rock stars, sports figures, fashion models, and movie stars flaunt them. Tattoos are permanent, so make sure you planned it out! Giving your professional tattooer creative freedom may have its advantages, but again, make sure you really have a good understanding of his or her body of work.

Fairy Costume Wings Make A Simple Costume Special

A fairy outfit without fairy costume wings will just not be a fairy outfit. While the outfit itself will be pretty, the detailed work of the wings is what makes it extra special.

The fairy costume wings are very integral to a fairy outfit. While some fairy attires come together with the wings, there are some for which you need to buy them separately. There are also some people who make their own outfit and just get the fairy wings.

Fortunately, there is a variety of fairy wings that you can buy. You can get them in many colors like green, blue, purple, pink and even black.

Some of these wings are made for butterfly wings, but you can just as well use them for fairy attires as well.

There are the black Gothic wings which are used for the dark fairy costume. Although these are black wings, the material used like sheer nylon or web net type with the structure and shape make for awesome designs for the dark fairy costumes.

Some of these wings have embellishments and designs on them. These designs can be elaborate and make these wings real pretty. You can also find antennas that give it an authentic fairy look.

Of course, you can choose to make the wings on your own. An online search will find you instructions on how to do this. You will typically need hangers, tights of different colors as required, glue, glitter, pliers, scissors and a paint brush. If you have a knack for handicraft, you might enjoy making your own fairy costume wings.

She is supportive and helpful most of the times and a little playful and rancorous on different occasions.

This adorable little fairy can fly with you all the time with the various designs for Tinkerbell tattoos at your local tattoo shops or even online. Women who wish to be with the fairy in her timeless form can ask the designer to inked Tinkerbell with her thimble at their shoulders. Other girls can opt to have the flying Tinkerbell with her fairy dust displayed on their arms. And some ladies can try getting Tinkerbell and her other fairy friends inked on their backs for additional fun.

Children Need Fairy Tales

Why are fairy tales a necessary part of childhood?

A fairy tale is a little snippet of life. It's a fantasized story portraying the goodness and evil in life. A fairy tale is told in a manner in which a child can relate to and understand. As parents, don't we try to shield our children from the harsh realities of life? Don't we all strive for love and freedom and happiness? For justice and fairness and goodness?

A fairy tale allows your child to think about those realities, but in a manner that feels like play. In the fairy tale, wrongs are righted, injuries are healed. Patience and virtue, love, goodness and happiness triumph. Your child feels good about the outcome and gets the sense that all is right with the world, yet still understands that bad stuff can happen. Most adults have forgotten how to play. We even make it ok to forget by giving it a name: Maturity. There! Now, it's alright.

We've forgotten what it was like to be a child. Grownup life gets in the way of fun and play and imagination. Playfulness is a normal characteristic of our human spirit. When we play we can forget the oppression of work and chores and clocks. It's a freedom we should all be allowed to enjoy, not just our children. Play allows us to be free and creative and joyful. Put self consciousness aside and just have fun.

Fairy tales allow us to freely play with our kids, while teaching at the same time, and all within the confines of a story. Fairy tales charm us as we listen and focus on the hard facts of reality, but result in showing us that the problem can and will be solved. Your child learns that things can and will go wrong, but that there is always a way to conquer the problem. We should allow our kids imaginations to flourish and live without restraint.

Wonderland. Fairy land. Never-never Land. They do exist. And they always will - if you believe! If you allow your imagination to play.

A child's education begins as play. Imagination is part of every game played. Childhood is and always will be a time of endless discoveries. They are, after all, just learning about life. Children believe in the fruits of their imagination. All of it, now matter how fanciful to the adult, is very real to a child. Did you ever sit in the background and just observe your child at play? It is an amazing experience. They are perfectly capable of acting out entire plays and solving most any problem within their own little experience.

Sometimes the solution doesn't make sense to us. That doesn't matter. Your child was exercising his imagination and things were happening within his imaginary world.

The ability to imagine and believe in a fanciful reality have lead many to a life of creative pursuits which could only have been brought about by a healthy use of the imagination. Formal education trains the eye, trains the hand, teaches the ability to reason and strengthens the power of observation but it is the higher power of the imagination that turns a child with a crayon into an artist, a dreamer into one who reaches for the moon and an early reader into an author or a poet or a Nobel prize winner.

Too often, our educational system focuses on facts. Facts are linear. Don't get me wrong, facts are needed to get to the necessary desired conclusion. Facts get the job done. But, what if?

What if?

Where would we be if Edison had not thought "what if"?
Where would we be if Franklin had not thought "what if"?
What if Newton had ignored that apple?
Would we have ever sent a man to the moon, if we had not thought "what if"?

An imagination is a terrible thing to waste.

Tribal Fairy Tattoos For Maximum Effect

The tattoo art has been stereotyped as a man's world. Tattoo sleeves, tribal tattoos, ankle tattoos, and even the animal symbols have been unjustly attributed to be male-dominant. Some say that males are more into the tattoos because having one is just really painful. However, it has been found out in studies that females generally have the higher pain threshold than men. And with today's society and fashion trends, the tattoo arts has not just become available to women, it has also been more of a statement as other accessories would.

One of the common tattoos found in a woman's body is the tribal fairy tattoo. Fairies are known as magical beings, able to cast spells, and enchant anyone it sets sight on. Tribal fairy tattoos are often a chosen design by most women because fairies themselves are more often characterized as angelic female beings.

Fairy tattoos, as the legend and the folklore surrounding these mystical beings, become the wearer's escape to this reality. Combined with the abstract art of the tattoo artist, tribal fairy tattoos offer a refuge in the realm of the fantasy world, full of bright hues, sprinkles of magic dust, and flights of fantasy.

Fairy tattoos are such a click to women because they can offer just about any mood, or any personality one chooses. Various designs and motifs of fairy tattoos are available. The gothic fairies, for example, show a deep dark longing for solace. The magical and colorful fairies offer a sense of cheer and enchantment. The tribal fairy tattoo, on the other hand, offers that simple, yet mystic persona. So, choose that fairy tattoo good, as it reflects your style, your taste, your personality.

Once Upon a Princess Theme - Fairy-Tale Princess Room Decorating Ideas

All little girls reside, at least in part, in a world of their imagination, a world inspired by the fairy tales and storybooks they encounter every day. Fulfilling her fantasy of being one of those princesses that she reads about in books, hears about in stories, and sees in movies, is the best way you can help her bring those wondrous tales to life.

Princess Castle Beds

Every princess in every fairy tale has her own private chambers where she dreams about life in her magic kingdom. To make your little girl feel like a princess, then, all you really need to do is give her such a bed. Providing such royal treatment is as simple as finding a qualified custom children's bed designer and introducing her to the vivid fantasy life of your little princess.

Adding elements of luxury to her princess castle bed will only delight her the more. This can include a canopy bed, a loft bed, big plush pillows and silky, satiny custom bedding.

Evoke the Images of Her Favorite Storybook Princesses

Give her a magic mirror on one wall of her custom castle bed so she can fawn over her pretty face - "the fairest one of all". Give her a settee that's as decadent as Cinderalla's horse-and-buggy and she can always feel like she's on her way to a fancy ball. Line the floors of her custom bed with elaborate carpet and throw rugs and she can imagine she's Princess Jasmine "on a magic carpet ride" with her handsome Aladdin. Bedeck the custom castle bed in colorful shells and coral and starfish and she can imagine herself Princess Arial relishing in life "under the sea".

Make-Believe Worlds, Real Life Play

Pretending that she lives in a storybook fairy-tale world is only half fun; acting it out in her environment is the rest. And you can help make this possible too by making her princess castle bed more than just a place to lay her weary head at night but one in which she frolic and play during the day as well.

Adding slides, climbing walls, swings, tunnels to crawl through, and other design elements that she can enjoy will only heighten that sense that she's living in a world of her own imagining. And all of this can be built straight into any custom princess castle bed.

It's a Colorful Life

Rounding out the fairy tale fantasy will be vivid, vibrant colors that sparkle and shine, like the light of her imagination. Find out her favorite colors and then, with a can of paint and a few yards of fabric, you can complete the image of being the heroine of her very own fairy tale living in her very own custom princess castle bed.

When the Green Fairy Strikes

When two of my friends, who shall be known as "The Whore" and "Exhibit B", received their package from the land of my family's origin, the Czech Republic, they had no idea what they were in for. Both of them nigh professional drinkers, they figured two shots of the bright green Absinthe would be no big deal. Clearly neither of them were a match for the Green Fairy. O, how we love Friday nights in Pullman. Oh, and what I had said to Rob was "booger", which caused him to collapse into drunken, hysterical laughter.

How to Really Enhance Your Costume With a Set of Unique Homemade Black Fairy Wings

If you have an old fairy costume or maybe an older black or dark blue dress you can buy a simple pair of fairy wings and turn them into scary looking black fairy wings.

Dark fairies or Banshee are very dark, bad, mischievous and sometimes evil fairies that can haunt a person for their entire lives. They are old, worn looking, skinny and without life. Instead of the soft enchanting voice that a good fairy has, they in turn have a terrible wail that is often associated to the death of a family member. They are creatures of the forest that no one from the old country dare speak of or venture out along at night for fear of running into one.

Now that you have a little background on these fairies, let discuss what you can do to make your fairy wings look mote dark and sinister.

Materials needed: Enough old-looking black lace to cover the wing construction, craft glue, twigs and dead leaves, scissors, material clips or pins, ribbon and a staple gun. If you are good with a needle and thread, then use it instead.

First you are going to want to take the wire from your wings and bend them a little bit. Where a beautiful, soft fairy may have perfectly shaped wings, a dark fairy's wings are a little tweak or bent in. A disorganized look is what you are after here.
Take your lace and start to pin it over the existing wing material. You don't want this to look perfect. It has to look a bit disorganized.  This will look even better if you sew the lace on the wings.
Now for the fun part. Take your small twigs and dead leaves and start to glue them to the wings. This will give the wings a more realistic look. Since dark fairies live in the deep forest, parts of the forest will definitely get caught on their wings.
Now take your scissors and make small little cuts into the lace. Make these small cuts in all different directions. This will give the wings a more sinister worn out look.
Finally grab the top of each wing and bend them forward a little. This will give the wings a sickly, droopy look. If you remember from the first paragraph of this article, dark fairies are old, skinny and sick looking creatures.
Last step is to tie your wings to your dress. This is a tricky part. We are going to make two loops. These loops are similar to what you would find on a backpack. You essentially are going to be making backpack type shoulder straps out of your wings. Standing in front of a mirror, see where your wings look the best. Mark that area and then attach one piece of ribbon to the top part of your wings and then to the lower part of the wing. Do this with your pins or clips. We will attach these permanently in a few minutes. Your first loop is completed. Now do this again with the second piece of ribbon. Attach the ribbon to the wings with pins, so you can adjust them if necessary. Once you have them just right, staple the ends of the ribbon to the wings and color over the silver staple with a permanent black pen. You want the staples to blend in with the wings. Now the ribbon ends are permanently attached and will not come off the wing. For a more professional look you can use a needle and thread for this entire step.

Congratulations, you now have a homemade set of black fairy wings. When someone asks you where you purchased your wings, you can boast that you made them yourself. Happy Halloween!

Angel and Fairy Tattoos - Why Are They So Popular With Women?

Angel and fairy tattoos are both very popular tattoo designs amongst the female population. They can be seen on men as well of course, but they both make great female tattoo designs. So why are they so popular and what do these tattoos symbolise?

Well at a very basic level both these types of tattoo designs look very attractive on a woman. Some tattoos worn by a lot of men don't look great on women, but angel tattoos and fairy tattoos always look good on a woman. Whether you have a large angel tattoo on your back, for example, or a small cute little fairy tattoo on your ankle or shoulder, for instance, these tattoos are always pleasing on the eye.

Of course while both these types of tattoos undoubtedly look great, it is there symbolism that is largely responsible for their popularity.

Let's start by discussing angel tattoos first of all. Angel tattoos can convey a number of different messages and can mean different things to different people, but they are often seen as a form of guardian angel, offering protection from evil spirits and misfortune in life.

They also have religious connotations for a lot of people because angels represent a link between themselves and God. Angels are mentioned a lot in the Bible, but they also feature in many other religions as well so angel tattoos can appeal to people from various different religions.

Also because angels represent life and death, another reason why angel tattoos are so popular is because they can be used to remember loved ones that have sadly passed away.

So overall there are many reasons why angel tattoos are so popular and it's the same with fairy tattoos. Fairies are popular with women because they are cute and attractive and also because they bring back memories of being a little girl, and perfectly represent a happy childhood that many women still like to remember.

Many women also like to convey the positive aspects of their personality. These often include things like warmth, friendliness and happiness so fairy tattoo designs are a perfect way to convey this message because they share the same qualities.

It should be pointed out, however, that fairies also have a mischievous side and are not all sweetness and light. Indeed it is this rebellious characteristic that appeals to a lot of women who also have a rebellious side to them.

So overall angel and fairy tattoo designs are very popular with women for a number of reasons. They not only look very attractive but they can represent various different things whether it's religious beliefs or specific character traits.

How to Make a Rustic Tooth Fairy Pillow

This is a really cute, yet a rustic addition to a child's bed, and also has the additional excitement of producing a reward for a baby tooth!

You can make these out of any cotton fabrics, but my favorite has been to use well worn denim.

You will need 2 x pieces denim 7 inches square. I make a cardboard template for this, as I like to make lots of these pillows, and cut the squares out ahead of time. You will also need, the tiny inner pocket from a pair of jeans. They are usually found in the front pockets, or you can just use a tiny back pocket from a pair of child's jeans.

Sew the tiny pocket on the front and center of one piece of denim, then sew the 2 pieces of denim together with the right sides showing ( wrong sides together) with a 1/2 inch seams on the outside. Leave enough space for stuffing, but don't do this just yet.

Clip the outer seams into tiny strips about 1/4" apart being careful not to clip the seam stitching, and then wash your little pillow and put it in the dryer, this will trigger your clipped seams to fray, which gives the pillow a soft yet rustic appearance.

Stuff the pillow with extra soft polyester fiber fill and then sew the seam shut. You now have a denim tooth fairy pillow. You put the tooth in the tiny pocket on the front, and keep the pillow on the bed, and the tooth fairy replaces the tooth with a special treasure for your child to discover the next morning.

These also make cute little pillows for the bed, and can be made from vintage fabrics, but I feel they look their best with the frayed fringe edges.
