5 Interesting Facts of Collectible Fairy Dolls & Porcelain Fairy Dolls

Have you ever wondered about the existence of fairies or where the idea originated? We don't exactly have any documentation or proof that fairies exist, except that if you search the internet or libraries, over the centuries there are thousands of drawings and artwork that exist about what people have thought fairies would look like.

- Fairies are often thought of as being very beautiful. They usually are depicted as having wings, often having magic powers, and even sometimes shown with a magic wand. They could bring you good luck, or prosperity if you treated them with respect.

- There are legends that fairies could cast a spell on someone. They are thought to be friendly, mischievous, or cruel depending on their mood. In modern culture, we tend to believe that fairies are good and that they can bring us good luck, or watch over us.

- Fairies are also thought to be able to change from being visible or invisible at will. We have always heard or read that fairies either live in the woods, underground, or around the water. Most of them are thought to be able to fly.

- Fairies have been used for hundreds of years in fairy tales such as a Fairy God Mother in Cinderella, and Tinkerbelle in Peter Pan. These fairies in fairy tales always show peacefulness and goodness instead of evil and mischief.

- Today's fairies are thought to be social little creatures that can be helpful around the house or surprise your with small gifts. We have all heard about the Tooth Fairy who visits little children when they leave their tooth under the pillow, and then in the morning wake to find the Tooth Fairy has left them money.

Since doll collecting has been on the rise in recent years, there have been many beautiful fairy dolls created in many different sizes. Some are very tiny, like Lunette, who is sleeping peacefully and looks as if she is just waiting to be scooped up. These are some of the most popular fairies to display. Other fairy dolls can be quite large, like Tatianna, who is 23" tall. She is a beautiful fairy queen that is dressed in beads and lace and has long flowing hair. These types of fairy dolls are generally the kind you have in mind or visualize when you hear about them in stories or fairy tales.

Some fairy dolls, like Peppermint Posh or Cinda Shower, may look a little on the active or mischievous side. However, they still look like a lot of fun to have around. They are quite cute, but have a look of mischief about them, and may need to be watched carefully!

Whether you believe in fairies, or just like to have beautiful dolls to decorate with, you cannot go wrong with the Whispering Willow Collection of Fairies. There are prices, sizes, and styles for many different types of collectors.

Do You Believe in Magic Fairies? Some Reflection on the Background of Faery History and Lore

So what, or who, are fairies? Are fairy tales real?

Fairy tales have been handed on from generation to generation, through the quite mutterings of magic creatures who come to us both day and night.

Fairies can be found in magical locations around the world. They are quite small and very powerful, to the point that they can transform themselves to look like us.

The live in very different habitats, from dark forests, to lakes, to meadows and flowery gardens.

We know them by different names - pixies, fairies, gnomes, elves, nymphs, sylphs, undines and sprites.

It doesn't matter where you live in the world, fairy tales have been with us since the dawn of time. This seems to back up the idea that faeries are real, and that they used to play a far more significant role in our day to day lives than they do now. Could it be that with their habitats changing, that average faery is harder to find?

Ireland has leprechauns, Britain has brownies and Germany has the kobold, but most of us will have a garden fairy in our very own yard.

In faerie law, we know that fairies are mainly charitable to mankind. They are also known to be a bit naughty. They are playful and love to play tricks on us mortals. It is important that you speak well of them and treat them with respect. If you don't, you run the risk of making them angry. one of the easiest things to do to make friends with real fairies is to leave little gifts for them such as beads and special sweet treats.

I like to make treats for myself and the kids, and leave a little for the garden fairies who gather in our fairy garden. It's been working so far - lots of happiness and laughter exists at our house.

Fairy Princess Costume

You are not going to find many young girls that are not fascinated, at least for a little, with fairies. They may play fairies with their friends, and they may also want to be a fairy for Halloween. They may not ask for it on their own, but they may love the idea if you suggest it to them. Little girls tend to go for ideas that have wings, wands, and special powers. Fairies fit right in with this. If they already have a fairy princess costume that they wear all of the time, they may be all set to go, but you may want to add some special touches for Halloween night.

When it comes to a fairy princess costume, there are some great ideas out there that you can go out and buy as a whole. For some girls, this works well, but you do have to be careful how you do it. They may see something that you bring home and tell you that it is not what they want and you are going to have to make them wear it, or go out and buy something else. If you want to go get a fairy princess costume this way, you should take your little girl with you. That way she can choose what she wants, and then can not argue that it is not quite right.

Making a fairy princess costume is rather easy if you have the right things. You want to have some sort of dress that is sparkly in some way, and then you have to find some wings. Butterfly wings can work, but some girls want ones that are clear and luminescent for a more authentic look. You want a wand, and any other thing they think would go with a fairy princess costume. Costume jewelry is always going to be a nice touch. Think of pieces that have glitter and sparkle, as we all know fairies are supposed to be fancy.

You can also find some amazing pieces for your fairy princess costume if you look online. You can also find some complete costumes that are going to be just what your daughter wants to wear. You can easily have her go online with you and look through the choices that you can find on various web sites. Make sure you check out many different sites, as each may have something different and also, they have different prices. Order early to be sure it gets there on time, and be careful with the sizing. Go one size up if you are not sure to be certain it is going to fit them.

The Great Absinth Taste Test

Captain Prickle and I taste-test some Czech absinth to see what all the fuss is about. This was after visiting the Plzen brewery that afternoon...so we were having a bit of fun :) For what its worth, La Fee absinth is the best brand I have tried so far. I think we decided on Fruko Shulz because it closely resembled vodka.... Music is 'Lights' performed by The Sisters of Mercy, composed by Andrew Eldritch, from the album 'Some Girls Do Wander By Mistake'. (my favourite song by The Sisters of Mercy BTW...)

Absinthe from Czech

Absinthe is historically described as a distilled, highly alcoholic (45%74% ABV) beverage. It is an anise-flavored spirit derived from herbs, including the flowers and leaves of the herb Artemisia absinthium, commonly referred to as "grande wormwood". Absinthe traditionally has a natural green color but can also be colorless. It is commonly referred to in historical literature as "la fée verte" (the Green Fairy). Although it is sometimes mistakenly called a liqueur, absinthe was not bottled with added sugar and is therefore classified as a spirit. Absinthe is unusual among spirits in that it is bottled at a very high proof but is normally diluted with water when drunk. Absinthe originated in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland. It achieved great popularity as an alcoholic drink in late 19th- and early 20th-century France, particularly among Parisian artists and writers. Due in part to its association with bohemian culture, absinthe was opposed by social conservatives and prohibitionists. Charles Baudelaire, Paul Verlaine, Arthur Rimbaud, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Vincent van Gogh, Oscar Wilde, and Aleister Crowley were all notorious 'bad men' of that day who were (or were thought to be) devotees of the Green Fairy. Stimulate Your Creative Imagination With an In-depth Study of the Hidden Meaning of Fairy Tales

Fairy tales are similar in many respects to a secret code that can only be broken by a careful, analysis of hidden features. When you analyze every incident in a fairy tale in great depth and look closely at every example of magic, you'll realize that fairy tales are much more than fascinating stories for children. You'll discover there's a hidden meaning and an underlying message.

"Rumpelstilskin" is a typical example of a fairy tale with hidden depths of meaning and profound psychological insight into human nature.   Many unusual incidents and cryptic features are presented symbolically. The story is far more complex and revealing than it may first appear.

Gold in this fairy tale signifies more than wealth. It is a symbol of success, fame, recognition for achievement, also greed and lust for power. Straw represents material of little worth as well as substances and elements of life that are unimportant an insignificant. It also represents mediocrity and failure to reach one's goals.

The story focuses on creative power. "Rumpelstilskin" is presented as weird-looking, ugly, old man with magical powers to spin straw into gold. His sudden appearance in response to the young girl's cries of distress symbolizes the power of creative imagination

The process of examining fairy tales in great detail will prove of great benefit to you.  It will stimulate your own creative imagination. Your mind will become far more open to innovative ideas, original thoughts and ingenious ways of dealing with problems.

When you analyze each incident in the fairy tales in such depth, the remarkable improvement in your ability to think creatively will allow you to look at situations from a completely new and original perspective - one of the of the greatest benefits of creative imagination.

Your creative imagination will help you reach whatever goal you set for yourself. It is the secret of success for everything you hope to achieve in life. Creative imagination  is a force so powerful it can produce remarkable new inventions, marvels of engineering, and masterpieces of music, literature, painting and sculpture.

This applies as much to creativity in business and innovative ways to market your product as it does to every form of artistic expression.

The ability to think creatively provides you with limitless opportunities.   In many respects creative imagination can be compared to magic and miracles

The detailed analysis of the many incidents of magic in fairy tales such as "Rumpelstilskin", "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp", "Jack and the Beanstalk" and other  fairy tales, will make it clear magic is intended as a metaphor. It represents the power of the human mind to overcome all obstacles and achieve miraculous results.

An excellent example of this is to be seen in the fairy tale, "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp".    The Genie, trapped in a bottle, represents the dormant, latent and under-utilized capacity of the human mind.   It symbolizes the personal creative power everyone possesses but fails to make full use of.

Like so many others, you probably have never made full use of many latent talents you possess. These talents may be regarded as your personal "genie".

The in-depth examination of fairy tales in such detail is far  more than a satisfying intellectual exercise. You'll gain far more benefits than the satisfaction of simply completing a complicated crossword puzzle. One of the most important benefits you'll gain from this exercise is the ability to set your own "Genie" free.

Your personal "Genie" represents your inner voice; the powerful inner voice you have stifled; your intuitive instincts that you have ignored; your desperate need to express yourself in an unusual and unconventional manner  you have disregarded  due to shyness, timidity or fear of failure or criticism.

Once you are able to the powerful forces trapped in your own mind free; listened to your inner voice and followed your intuitive feelings, your life will take on a new direction.

Start  today,  to read and  re-read fairy tales that enthralled and captivated you as a child. But read them now in greater depth, methodically and analytically. Examine every incident  carefully and focus on interpreting  them in different ways.

For information about fairy tales; how to examine their hidden meaning and how  to use creative imagination to give your life new directiorn and purpose, visit the following website http://www.creativemindpowers.com.

Drawings of Tiny Angels and Holiness Inside Our Closets

Despite all the things I complain about
I must acknowledge a few tiny angels.
Ahh yes,
Among our many treasures
there are all those drawings of angels
in our closet.

Days come and go and I am sometimes unclear
sometimes I forget how far we traveled to find this place.

I prop you up
because
I am
falling.

I mend your heart
tell you things will be
fine
even though
I am not sure.

No worries about me though
I am a snowflake in the wind
a host of tiny angels
a dream that continues to circle
despite my other songs.

I don't care what you say
when you don't like me
(I say that but it's a lie)
I just want to know
we are not falling.

Stinging
everywhere
that's the tone
that slips from my lips
I can taste in on my tongue
and I entertain it way too often.
Pain is universal
isn't it?
Is that the excuse?

I swear
no matter how many times I try
to fend it all off
adversaries
those that pull at my being
relentlessly...
I fear I will give in.

You, shouldering my breath
in moments of strength
find that missing muse.
You so lovingly dust it off
causing it to perform
again
and say
no
you will not give up on dancing.
And I say...
When is the estimated time of arrival?

There is such a thing as euphoria.
Maybe we can cradle it in small doses?
You decide will you?
Can I in fact stop you?
If it qualifies as being remarkable
a journey worth the travel
lets stop all creative killers
modulate the moment so we can stop crying.
Right?
Am I?

You prop me up
because
I am
falling.

You mend my heart
tell me things will be
fine
even though
I am not sure.

No worries about us
we are snowflakes in the wind
as our dream continues to circle
despite all other songs
and tiny angels that get ignored at times.

Around the corner I saw a sign,
"Not to Worry"
and so
releasing all the things I complain about
I must appreciate
all those drawings of angels and holiness in our closet.

Absinthe

Images of the wormwood-based liquor that captivated and seduced an entire generation of artists, poets and writers. Absinthe is traditionally a distilled, highly alcoholic (45%-75% ABV) beverage. Fairy Costumes

Things have never ending cycle. For kids, this can be influenced by the movies or television shows that they see, and also by what their peers are taking interesting of. For a while, my daughter loved the Wiggles, but she seems to be outgrowing them and into more of the things that her peers are talking about. One of the new trends that I have observed is that many girls are into fairies. This was brought to my attention when my daughter asked for fairy costumes for play. I looked them up, and found out that they are very numerous these days.

Fairy Costumes: you don't have to have the reason to wear them

Fairy costumes was always around, but a lot started appearing when a movie or television show starts to feature them. There is a new Barbie movie about fairies, and that might be one of the reasons why there are many buying fairy costumes right now. Though some are based on the movies that comes out, there are many other ones more generic in nature that are also available. For some kids, they don't care which fairy costume they get, as long as they have one that's enough.

The best thing about fairy costumes, at least in my daughter's eyes, is that you don't have to have a reason to wear them. We have gone to the grocery store with her dressed in many different things, and I won't be surprised if sooner we'll go with her wearing her fairy costume. She loves the attention, and her imagination allows her to believe that she really is a fairy, although you don't often see them in the grocery stores. She wouldn't mind if she had to make her own fairy costume, as long as she has wings, she is ready to go.

Fairy Costume-make something special

You need not buy complete fairy costumes. You can always buy the parts and pieces if you want to create something special. You can see what the basics are just by looking at other sets of fairy costumes, and then get what you want to make your own. You must have fairy wings, and some type of frilly or flowing dress, and the rest is up to you. Your kids may even demand for some very specific things they are looking for when asking for fairy costumes, so it is much better to search the parts together. You might be surprised that you can buy just a few things to modify something that you already have in your closets for a really great fairy costume.

Magic in Stories For Younger Readers - Part Two - Fairy Tales

Traditional fairy tales are of course are filled with magic, with witches, wizards, spell books and magical objects often featuring in the stories associated with the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Anderson and others. Its no coincidence that the most well known and best loved stories for children, often classic tales of the eternal battle between the forces of good and evil, are fantasy based and involve magic.

These range from the myths and legends prevalent in ancient cultures around the globe through classic tales like Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and Cinderella, through Alice in Wonderland, The Secret Garden, and Peter Pan, to The Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and many more.

Many such stories that have become more familiar with children, often mostly from Disney movies in recent decades, are filled with strong magical themes and easily recognizable characters. Cinderella of course has her wicked stepmother and step sisters, along with her fairy godmother, a warm hearted grandmotherly figure, plus the handsome prince.

Disney's The Sword in the Stone features a bumbling old man as the version of Merlin tutoring the young Arthur, but Merlin is also a well known as a powerful wizard who is dangerous to his enemies, and also offers counsel and acts as a loyal friend to the future king. In Beauty and the Beast, the prince has been cursed by a witch and the enchantment can only be lifted by the appearance of true love, a frequent theme of sacrifice in tales involving magic.

Looking For Sexy and Hot Fairy Tattoo Designs?

Sexy And Cute Fairy Tattoo Designs For Women?

Today more than at any other point in time women are getting tattoos.  In fact many of them are getting multiple tattoos and even very big tattoo pieces.  It seems that the stigma that was once carried with having a tattoo has all but vanished.  With very popular tv shows like Miami Ink and LA Ink tattoo are become much more accepted by society as a whole.  Women have jumped on this trend and are getting tattoos.  However, they are not getting the big skull tattoo that guys used to get instead they are looking for more cute, girly and feminine tattoos that are sexy.  One example of a very sexy and cute tattoo design for women is the fairy tattoo design.

Finding A Tattoo Artist

Finding a tattoo artist can be a little difficult.  You will definitely want to shop around and don't just go with the first tattoo artist that you meet.  Instead go to a variety of shops and spend some time in each one.  Get to know the artists in the shop.  Ask about their policies and costs for the designs.  The price and quality of a tattoo can vary greatly depending on the shop and the particular tattoo artist.  So it is important to search around.  You want to find a tattoo shop that will offer you a fair price yet one that can do great work and someone who will listen to your ideas.  You can always ask to see a tattoo artists portfolio of work also to get an idea of the styles and types of designs and work he or she does.

Versatile Designs

Fairy tattoo designs are very versatile. The design can be done very small or large and can be made to fit just about anywhere you want to get your tattoo. Fairy tattoos look equally great a large full back tattoo design or just a small foot tattoo. Whatever you choose for your design and size it can probably be done. Fairy tattoos are also very versatile in that they fairy can express whatever feeling or emotion you might want to portray about yourself. For example you can have a cute fairy tattoo or a sexy one. You can have a fairy tattoo in just about any position you want they could by flying around or sitting on top of a mushroom. The choice is really up to you and what you want to express with the tattoo design.

Location

One of the best things about these tattoos that was hit on above is their versatility. That means that the design can be fit into just about any location o your body that you might desire to have tattooed. Fairy tattoos work very well on as a foot tattoo design if you want something that can easily be hidden. It can also be done as an armband tattoo, a hip tattoo, a lower back tattoo design or even a full back tattoo design if you want something large. Where you choose should be a primary concern and something that you really spend some time considering. The location of course will partially help you identify the size of the tattoo.

The Fairy

Another thing that you will want to think about is what kind of fairy tattoo design do you want.  You see the fairy can represent something about you pretty easily and you want to choose the design and style of the fairy tattoo carefully.  Do you want a sexy little fairy or one that looks bashful and shy?  Try to pick some emotions or thoughts that you want to portray through the tattoo design and see if the artist doing the work can't incorporate those into the design.

Fairy Costumes Satisfy Our Love of Fantasy

Man's fascination with fantasy, including fairies, leprechauns and elves, began centuries ago and has never left us. Today children love to dress up in fairy costumes from the time they're toddlers, running around their homes with colorful wings strapped to their shoulders and sparkling wands clutched in their hands. Many of us never outgrow that sense of wonder and continue to be charmed by the thought of fairies all our lives.

We love fairies because they touch our sense of wonder and remind us that we can believe in something mystical and otherworldly that is good and pure and beautiful. Our passion for fairies has been a common thread across centuries and countries. Legends of mysterious fairies watching over newborns were well-known in the Middle Ages, and ancient Irish and Celtic legends of leprechauns and little people told of fairy people living in the forests and playing tricks on folks. Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream and other plays prominently featured fairies who meddled in the affairs of men. In fact, in the Renaissance Italy, fairy costumes were extremely popular with noblewomen attending the many masquerade balls that were popular in cities like Venice and Rome.

More recently, the Lord of the Rings created an entire world of elves, fairies and other creatures with their own language, culture and manner of dressing. Renaissance Fairs increased sharply in popularity after the movie trilogy was released on the big screen, with Elves, Hobbits and Dwarves appearing in full force.

Drew Barrymore's ethereal fairy costume in the romantic movie Ever After was an example of an adult costume that combined romantic femininity with fairy tale charm. Glimmering wings, gossamer layers of chiffon and soft colors gave her the illusion of glowing with light and magic.

Our love of fantasy allows us to play many roles when we dress in fairy costumes. Whether we want to reflect the delicate beauty of a woodland flower fairy or the more mischievous and dangerous look of a sultry nymph, you can find a costume you'll fall in love with. You can even find evil fairies with blood red dresses and devilish wings! Your husband may fall in love with you all over again if you slip into a sexy little set of fairy wings and skimpy adult woodland fairy costume it could be his fantasy come true!

Garden Fairies - Find More Than Just Flower Fairies at the Bottom of the Garden!

There are many types of fairy, and garden fairies are just some of them. From flower fairies to tree spirits, the backyard can be an abundance of fairy activity, so long as the right setting is provided.

What Do Fairies Do in the Garden?

The most popular notion of fairy activity in the yard is that they look after the plants and help them grow. This is true, but at a far more complex level. There are fairies responsible for photosynthesis, others responsible for healthy roots, and others making sure the soil is fertile.

Now, the more skeptical reader might be wondering why all gardens are not botanical paradises if fairies take care of everything! The key issue is that fairies must have the right setting to work efficiently in - a chemical-filled or overgrown and unloved space is not somewhere a fairy wants to be. Similarly, if an area is owned by non-believers, this can damage a fairy's ability to look after plants too.

Other fairies found in the backyard take care of trees, birds, animals, water and the local weather.

How to Attract Fairies

The best way to keep fairies happy and abundant is to grow an organic, partly wild garden with lots of native flowers and secret places for both fairies and wildlife. Fairies love humans who take care of the precious planet, so the more Earth-friendly you are, the better!

Once I started working proactively with the fey, I found attracting garden fairies was no problem at all.
